Police Deploy at FDC’s Kabaziguruka, Ingrid Residences
Police have cordoned off FDC leaders’ residences as opposition strongman Dr Kizza Besigye prepares to appear at Nakawa Court today Wednesday.
Besigye is accused of committing treasonous offences by unlawfully taking oath as President-elect and reportedly inciting people to rise up against a validly elected government of President Museveni.
Suspecting possible mobilisation of masses to throng Nakawa Court, police today put several FDC leaders under surveillance.
“Comrades, police has cordoned off my house. Deployment very heavy! They have taken positions all around the house,” said FDC Mobilisation Secretary Ingrid Turinawe.
“I can’t guess what they want to do next, it’s deep in the night,” she added.
“They arrived at exactly 1:00am. Two police trucks just parked crossing my way outside the gate.”
Police publicist Free Enanga was not readily available for comment.
Police have previously put Dr Besigye under preventive arrest.
The law enforcement body maintains it’s actions are informed by the need to prevent political violence and destruction and destruction of property.
FDC Deputy Electoral Commission chief Michael Kabaziguruka’s residence was also raided at around 3:00am.
“My home has been surrounded again, What exactly do these people want from us?” charged the FDC official.
“They may just get it if they keep pushing,” he cautioned.
Besigye is expected at court by 9:00am.
