The controversial Red Top Brigade will provide security to Dr Kizza Besigye on his return to Uganda this Thursday, Chimp Corps report.
According to FDC top shot, Wafula Oguttu, Besigye will arrive at Entebbe International Airport at around 8:15am aboard Kenya Airways.
Besigye flew from New Jersey on Sunday night to Amsterdam.
He was expected to proceed to Nairobi, Kenya on Monday afternoon from where he would connect to Uganda.
The FDC have since written to police alerting the institution of plans to welcome Besigye and hold a press a conference at the airport.
They further asked for “security and protection.”
This website has learned that since last week some FDC leaders have been planning to hold a huge procession along Entebbe Road to welcome the party’s former presidential candidate.
It was planned that FDC supporters start pouring on the streets as early as 6:00am.
Ingrid Turinawe is heading mobilisation for the assemblies.
Her last meeting with FDC supporters occurred on Monday in Kampala where she also met with the Red Top Brigade leaders.
The Red Top Brigade is a group of youthful opposition activists who have in recent months circulated leaflets in Kampala threatening insurrection.
Their uniform, which includes a red beret, resembles that of the official Military Police.

The outfit’s leaders also have previously participated in demonstrations in Kampala only to end up in jail.
Sources told ChimpReports the Red Top Brigade pledged to provide a ‘ring of defence’ to the FDC honcho’s convoy.
Police speak out
As FDC continues to hold preparatory meetings ahead of Besigye’s return, police have vowed to crush ay processions along the busy highway.
Police spokesperson and Assistant Inspector General of Police, Andrew Kaweesi told journalists on Monday that Entebbe Road is a no-go area for political activities.
“We can’t allow anybody assemble along Entebbe highway to disrupt peace. Whoever continues with the alleged procession will not be allowed to see the light of the day,” Kaweesi warned.
He said that according to the law, no procession is allowed along major highways as it can disrupt traffic flow adding the opposition party ought to seek guidance from police on how to do their activities.
“They should have requested for permission from police. But even then, we will not allow them hold a procession along the way considering what transpired some time back. ”
Kaweesi said they have no issue with any activity but highlighted that any form of demonstration or procession ought to be done within the confines of the law.
Besigye has on four occasions lost presidential elections to President Museveni but has vowed to use defiance to dismantle the current government in power.
